1 Student Eligibility & Enrollment Criteria

To enroll in any driving course at Samaras Driving School, applicants must fulfill the legal prerequisites established by the Department of Motor Traffic (Sri Lanka):

  • Age Requirement: Minimum 18 years of age completed on the date of application for Light Vehicle (Auto / Manual Car) and Motorcycle / Scooter classes.
  • Valid Identification: Original National Identity Card (NIC), valid Sri Lankan Passport, or postal identity card with certified verification.
  • Medical Fitness Certificate: Official medical certificate issued by the National Transport Medical Institute (NTMI / NTSA) verifying vision and physical fitness.

2 Lesson Scheduling, Attendance & Punctuality

To maximize training efficiency and ensure you pass your driving test on the first attempt, the following attendance guidelines apply:

  • Mandatory Hours: Students must complete all practical lesson hours specified in their package before an RMV trial appointment is finalized.
  • Punctuality: Please arrive at our branch or designated training track at least 10 minutes prior to your scheduled lesson slot.
  • Rescheduling Notice: If you are unable to attend a scheduled session, a minimum of 24 hours prior notice is required to reschedule without forfeiting lesson time.
  • Safety Footwear: Closed flat shoes (sneakers or driving shoes) are mandatory during all vehicle driving sessions. Slippers, flip-flops, and high heels are strictly forbidden.

3 Fee Schedules, Payment Terms & Refund Policy

Samaras Driving School operates on complete fee transparency with zero hidden surcharges or surprise costs:

  • Installment Facilities: Course fees can be paid in flexible agreed installments. An initial registration deposit is required upon commencement.
  • Final Clearance: Full course fees must be settled prior to the submission of candidates for the government RMV practical trial test.
  • Official Receipts: An official computer-generated receipt with a unique receipt number is issued for every payment and verified in your Student Portal.
  • Refund Terms: Course registration fees and government processing fees are non-refundable once administrative paperwork or practical training has commenced.

4 Vehicle Safety & In-Car Code of Conduct

Your safety and the safety of all road users is our highest priority during every driving lesson:

  • Dual-Control Certified Vehicles: All training cars are equipped with secondary dual-control brake and clutch pedals operated by our certified instructor.
  • Instructor Instructions: Students must strictly follow all verbal instructions and safety commands issued by the certified instructor at all times.
  • Zero Alcohol & Drug Policy: Driving under the influence of alcohol, medications causing drowsiness, or illicit substances is strictly prohibited. Violators will face immediate course cancellation.
  • Mobile Phone Prohibition: Making or answering phone calls, texting, or using mobile devices during behind-the-wheel practice is strictly forbidden.
Safety Discipline is Non-Negotiable

Failure to comply with an instructor’s emergency stop or steering corrections jeopardizes safety and may result in immediate suspension from driving practicals.

5 Department of Motor Traffic (RMV) Exams & Retrials

While Samaras Driving School provides premier quality training to guarantee optimal exam readiness, students must note the following official parameters:

  • Government Examiner Authority: All written and practical driving trial examinations are assessed independently and impartially by Department of Motor Traffic (RMV) officials.
  • Trial Failure & Repeat Tests: If a student fails an RMV trial test, our team provides refresher training sessions, and the student may re-apply for the next available government test date following standard RMV re-examination fees.

6 Student Code of Conduct & Hotline Support

We strive to provide a respectful, welcoming, and encouraging learning environment for all students. If you have any inquiries regarding schedules, instructors, or fees, our team is always ready to assist:
